Photographs of a Highland holiday adventure
Earlier this summer I took a weekend away from weddings and travelled through from Ayrshire to meet my sister and her partner at the beginning of their ‘Big Scottish Highland Holiday Adventure’. Melanie and Adam had planned a hike through Glenmore Forrest Park for their first day. I tagged along, camera in hand, sporting impractical clothing (I’m not known for my outdoor activities) and lots of enthusiasm.
Luckily the weather was glorious and hopefully you’ll agree that both the couple, and the setting, were worth the trip. Glenmore Forrest Park sits right in the middle of the Cairngorms National Park, with views of the mountains and Loch Morlich, there was always something breathtaking around each corner. I haven’t spent a lot of time in the North of Scotland and was blown away by how beautiful it is. I can really understand why so many couples use it as a backdrop for a destination wedding or elopement.
Mel and Adam were super relaxed and kitted out in waterproofs and hiking clothes. This meant I had no formal wear, wedding dresses or makeup artists to polish the look of this shoot. I think the result is so natural and it takes me right back to breathing in the fresh Highland air and the excitement of the first day of a holiday.
I’d love to do more shoots like this, taking some time away from it all and exploring the great outdoors that Scotland has to offer. Whether it is a pre-wedding, engagement or just for fun I want to hear suggestions of where I should go next. Also, who I should go with!
