The best wedding venues in Ayrshire
We’re truly spoiled in Ayrshire for stunning wedding venues. Casles, barns, hotels, a country house all to yourself? I’ve put together a little list of some of my favourites.
You don’t have to travel far in Ayrshire to find what you need. Seaside, rolling countryside, farm chic, it’s all here. Finding your dream venue is a huge part of making your wedding plans all come together. As a wedding photographer, all I need is some good light to make great images, but if you choose an epic venue, your day and my job become a whole lot more fun.
So, in no particular order, here are my top wedding venues in Ayrshire.

Castles and beautiful houses
There’s something undeniably magical about getting married in a castle or grand house. From sweeping staircases and historic interiors to manicured gardens and dramatic coastal views, these Ayrshire wedding venues bring a real sense of occasion to your day. Many offer exclusive use, meaning the entire setting is yours – creating a private, immersive experience for you and your guests. If you’re looking for timeless, romantic and just a little bit epic, this is where to start.
Culzean

Culzean Castle sits on the South Ayrshire coast overlooking Arran and Ailsa Craig. You have a few beautiful options for your ceremony including the castle itself, the orangery or Camellia House and you have the added bonus of both coastal and castle locations for photographs.
If you need even more inspiration for a Culzean Castle wedding, check out tv show the Buccaneers and you’ll see some familiar settings.
Visit the Culzean Castle weddings website for more information
Blairquhan Castle
Blairquhan has a special place in my heart as it’s where I got married in 2015. Beautifully renovated, available for exclusive use with 15 bedrooms in the castle and on-site cottages for guests, it’s an incredible choice if you want a private setting for your wedding day.
The surrounding scenery is magically peaceful, with walled gardens and a sailing pond – you won’t be stuck for locations for pictures.
Fun fact: The movie The Queen starring Helen Mirren was filmed at Blairquhan.

Rowallan Castle
Set within 600 acres of land, Rowallan Castle is another exclusive-use venue and a dream to photograph.
From the beautiful interiors, being spoiled for choice on ceremony locations, to the second castle or golf course, there’s no shortage of locations. It also has space for a marquee wedding for up to 300 guests.
So good I’ve written a separate guide which you can also read through.
Fun fact: Rowallan has a helipad if you or your guests fancy arriving in style.
Sorn
Sorn Castle prides itself on offering a bespoke, exclusive use wedding service handled by their expert team. Couples can host smaller, more intimate weddings in the castle itself, or larger wedding parties in the marquee.
Glenapp
With a range of options to accommodate from 6 – 200 guests, if you’re looking for a castle wedding, Glenapp has it covered. With 36 acres of grounds including beautiful gardens and woodland, and views out over Ailsa Craig, it’s a really stunning location.
Dumfries House
Dumfries House is another beautiful and versatile venue. The team at Dumfries House will guide you through the best ways to use the stunning spaces from the Tapestry Room for your ceremony, through to the seamlessly connected marquee for the party. With so many options in an incredible setting, it’s one of my favourite Ayrshire locations to shoot at.
Ladyburn House
A smaller, exclusive use property on the outskirts of Maybole. Visit their Instagram to see more of what they do.

Farms and barns
Farm and barn wedding venues in Ayrshire offer a completely different kind of magic – relaxed, characterful and full of atmosphere. Think exposed beams, countryside views and space to celebrate in a way that feels personal. Many of these venues give you exclusive use of the barn and surrounding grounds, creating a laid-back setting where the focus is on great food, good company and a brilliant party. If you’re drawn to a more informal, modern-country feel, this is where you’ll find it.
Dalduff Farm
One of Ayrshire’s most recognised barn venues, Dalduff has a quality that photographs with real warmth and texture. The converted byre is full of considered character with exposed stone, natural materials and atmosphere. The countryside setting offers plenty of space for portraits and the venue’s flexibility means you can shape the day to be entirely you from beginning to dancing.

Harelaw Farm
For a warm and personal vibe, Harelaw is a great option. Ideal for couples who are planning a relaxed and informal celebration. The converted barn, on-site accommodation and surrounding countryside are all perfect for photos too. For couples who’d like their wedding to feel grounded and authentic, Harelaw can do that.
Harelaw Farm has more info on their webstie.

Boswell’s Estate
With stunning countryside surroundings, and options to stay onsite in either the bridal suite or the historic Auchinleck House, Boswell’s is a perfect combination of history, countryside and event space.
You’ll have the freedom to put your own stamp on the event marquee making your wedding totally unique to you.
Roodlea Barn
Modern and filled with light, Roodlea gives couples a clean canvas to style their day. The ceremony space photographs beautifully and there’s no shortage of countryside for portraits later in the day. Ideal if you love the barn aesthetic, but would like fresh, contemporary comforts.

Hotels
Hotel wedding venues in Ayrshire offer a refined, seamless experience with everything in one place. From elegant ceremony spaces to dedicated reception suites and on-site accommodation for guests, they’re designed to make the logistics feel effortless. Many of Ayrshire’s hotels combine beautiful coastal or countryside settings with experienced wedding teams who know exactly how to keep the day flowing. If you’re looking for convenience without compromising on style, a hotel wedding can strike that balance perfectly.

Brig o’ Doon House Hotel
A much loved Ayrshire venue, known for the bridge made famous by Robert Burns, the romantic riverside setting and views of the brig make Brig o’ Doon a firm favourite, and it’s easy to see why.
It’s a beautiful choice for couples who like the combination of history and tradition with an intimate atmosphere, the gardens are perfect for summertime drinks by the river.
Piersland House Hotel
This Grade A listed country mansion brings a rich sense of history to your wedding day. Positioned directly opposite Royal Troon Golf Course and just a short stroll from Troon beach, Piersland House boasts two acres of beautifully landscaped gardens that are perfect for photographs. With capacity for up to 170 guests and a warm, personal approach to service, it offers a traditional Scottish wedding experience with character and charm.

Lochgreen House Hotel
Set within manicured gardens and private woodlands on the outskirts of Troon, Lochgreen combines old fashioned charm with modern luxuries. The Orangery makes for a beautiful ceremony location all year round with views over the gardens.
The Lochgreen website has lots more detail.
Turnberry
Few settings in Scotland carry the kind of considered grandeur that Trump Turnberry does. Positioned on the Ayrshire coast with uninterrupted views across the Firth of Clyde to Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran, the light here is extraordinary — wide, coastal, ever-changing. The resort’s grand spaces can host celebrations of up to 500 guests, while the historic Turnberry Lighthouse offers something more intimate and architectural. For couples who want their wedding photographs to feel as elevated as the day itself, Turnberry provides a backdrop with real presence.
Visit the Turnberry website for more information.
Enterkine Country House Resort
Tucked away within a 350-acre estate on the banks of the River Ayr, Enterkine Country House Resort is a privately owned luxury retreat with a strong reputation for exceptional food and service. The centrepiece of its wedding offering is a bespoke, hand-crafted oak-framed glass pavilion — the first of its kind in Ayrshire — which floods with natural light and frames sweeping views across the Ayrshire countryside. With the flexibility to host between 50 and 300 guests, as well as on-site accommodation and a more intimate Garden Room for smaller ceremonies, Enterkine caters beautifully for a wide range of wedding styles.
You can find their wedding brochure on the Enterkine website.

The Waterside Hotel
The Waterside Hotel in West Kilbride sits right at the edge of the Firth of Clyde, with uninterrupted views of the Isle of Arran filling the horizon. The access to the beach and views from all aspects are a real draw for couples. The Kyle Suite opens directly onto private gardens by the water, while 40 bedrooms and a seafront spa mean that guests can settle into the day at their own pace. It is a venue defined by its relationship with the landscape around it.
Here’s the Waterside website with more information.
choosing your venue…
There’s a lot to consider when choosing you wedding venue, practicalities and gut feelings go into it.
Here are a few things worth thinking about:
- Is exclusive use, where the space is entirely yours for the day, important to you?
- Are you drawn to dramatic scenery, or does ease and convenience matter more?
- Will it be a larger celebration, or something quieter and more intimate?
- How far are your guests travelling, and will they need accommodation nearby?
- Many historic venues don’t have space for large wedding meals, how do you feel about a marquee?
Looking for a wedding photographer in Ayrshire?
I’m based in Ayrshire and photograph weddings across Scotland with a documentary, relaxed approach. I work quietly, paying attention to the in-between moments as much as the obvious ones – the parts of the day that often mean the most later.
If you’re getting married at any of these venues – or somewhere entirely different – I’d love to hear what you’re planning.
